AUDITIONS BEGIN THE WEEK OF OCT. 29, 2018
WHAT TO EXPECT?
Musical Theatre:
-A separate solo audition will take place for major singing roles of the show.
-If you wish to have a singing part in the musical, it is mandatory for you to be a member of at least one of the singing groups within Music Dept.
-Speaking-only roles within the musical do not require a formal audition but you may get asked to perform a short monologue or read a scene.
Other Important Info:
-Be prepared on your audition date and be ready at least 5 minutes ahead of you time if possible.
-Auditions are usually held on stage in the large theatre. Please enter and exit through upper doors.
-You may wait in the upper lobby outside the theatre for the person before you to come out or someone will come and get you.
-The audition is performed in front of the directors (usually 1 or 2) and is also video recorded for further review if necessary. No one else is permitted in the theatre during audition times.
-We know it is nerve-racking so, take your time and take a deep breath before you begin. WE ARE THERE TO SUPPORT YOU! ☺
-The directors may be taking some notes during your audition.
-There may be some basic questions before and/or after your audition.
-Each audition takes about 5 minutes.
-Occasionally, the directors may ask you to sing a portion of your piece again if necessary. This is not a negative thing.
Tips on Preparing:

-Project your voice! Sing big and fill the room with your voice!
-Always sing in character adding as much expression as possible.
-It is okay to move around. The entire stage is yours!
-It is best to have your lyrics memorized but it is okay to have a reference sheet or device if needed.
-Drink lots of water every day. Bring a water bottle with you to your audition. NEVER SHARE WATER BOTTLES WITH SOMEONE ELSE.
-Avoid drinking milk products or caffeine just prior to your audition, rehearsals, or performances.
-Have great attendance at the groups with which you are involved to continue developing your singing voice and show your dedication.
-Show up early for your audition date & time, rehearsals, and performances.
